Use Android apps in your glasses

After the one-time setup, the apps on your phone open as windows in your glasses. You use them with the phone as a trackpad, like the rest of MiruXR.

Android
  1. Open the Deck.
  2. Choose the Android section, on the left side of the Deck.
  3. Tap an app. Apps are listed in alphabetical order.

If you use GameNative, your games come first in this list. See GameNative games.

Each app has only one window. If the app is already open, tapping it again takes you to its window.

On the phone's trackpad:

You do this The app gets this
Move one finger Moves the cursor
Tap A tap where the cursor is
Hold your finger about half a second, then move A drag (maps, sliders, video seek bars)
Slide with two fingers Scrolls or drags inside the app

Apps only receive one finger. Pinch to zoom and two-finger rotate don't reach the app. If the app has its own zoom buttons, use them.

When you tap a text field in an app, the MiruXR keyboard opens. If it doesn't open, use the keyboard button on the window's bar. More about typing in Keyboard.

  • Back (the arrow on the left of the bar) works like the Android Back button. On the first screen of the app, Back closes the window. Back on the phone, and the phone's back gesture, do the same.
  • Close (the X) closes the app's window.
  • The menu has Theater, Zoom and Close. When the window is not in Theater, the menu also has Bring to center. The modes are explained in Modes.

Zoom changes how big the app draws its content: 75 %, 100 %, 125 % or 150 %. There is also Like the phone, for apps that only look right at your phone's size (for example, an app whose text looks cut or whose content goes off the side). MiruXR remembers the zoom for each app.

A game controller connected to the phone goes to the app you are using. Games and other apps that support controllers work as usual.

  • While a controller is connected, each app's bar has a controller button. To keep the controller on one app while you use another window, tap that button. Tap it again to release the controller, and it follows the app you focus.
  • On Android 15 or newer, press the center button of the controller (PS, Xbox or Home) to bring the controller back to the MiruXR cursor. See Use a controller in MiruXR.

Some video apps protect their videos (DRM). Android doesn't let protected video show inside a window, so it would be black.

  • Disney+, Prime Video, Max, Hulu, Paramount+, Peacock, Apple TV and Crunchyroll open their web version in the MiruXR browser instead, with a short message.
  • In other apps, when protected video starts, the window shows Protected content. If the service has a web version, tap Watch on the web.
  • Netflix has no web version that works on Android. See Limits.
