Your first steps
The first time you open MiruXR, it asks for a few permissions, waits for your glasses and then teaches you the basic gestures with a short tour you do with the glasses on.
iPhoneAndroid1. Permissions
Section titled "1. Permissions"MiruXR asks for a few permissions on the A few permissions screen. You can say no to any of them and change your mind later in your phone's settings.
| Permission | What it is for | Phone |
|---|---|---|
| Photos | Show your videos and photos in the glasses | iPhoneAndroid |
| Location | Walking navigation and the local weather | iPhoneAndroid |
| Local network | Talk to your glasses. iPhone asks for it when you connect them | iPhoneAndroid |
| Notifications | See your phone's notifications in the glasses | Android |
| Glasses over USB | Let MiruXR use the glasses (shown when they are plugged in) | Android |
| Android apps in your space | Optional one-time setup to open your phone's apps as windows. See Set up Android apps | Android |
Other permissions, like the calendar or the microphone, are asked only when you first use the feature that needs them.
2. Connect the glasses
Section titled "2. Connect the glasses"Plug the glasses into your phone. See Connect your glasses.
3. The tour
Section titled "3. The tour"When the glasses connect for the first time, a hands-on tour starts. It runs on the phone and in the glasses at the same time, and each step waits until you do the gesture:
- Open the browser: aim at the Browser card and tap the phone.
- Two fingers to scroll: slide two fingers on the phone, like on a laptop trackpad.
- The top bar: point all the way up to see back, the address and reload.
- The bottom bar: point at the bottom edge to see close, more options, your windows and home.
- Close the browser: open the bottom bar and tap the X.
If a step doesn't move on, the phone offers Continue anyway. You can also leave with Skip tour.
4. Guides for each mode
Section titled "4. Guides for each mode"The first time you enter a mode (Spatial, the HUD or a 360 video), a short guide in the glasses shows what to do there. Small tips also appear the first time you use something, like moving a window, the keyboard or 3D.
See the tour and guides again
Section titled "See the tour and guides again"On the phone, open Settings (the sliders icon at the top left), then go to Support:
- Replay the tour: the first tour again.
- Show the guides again: the intro of each mode and the tips.
The tour starts with a clean screen, so MiruXR asks before closing the windows you have open.
What next
Section titled "What next"- Choose a mode: Theater, Spatial and the HUD.
- Use your phone as the controller.
