Choose a mode

MiruXR has two ways to use the glasses: Windows, for your content and apps, and the HUD, small widgets for when you are moving around. Windows can be laid out in two ways: Theater or Spatial.

iPhoneAndroid

The deck is MiruXR's home screen in the glasses. It has the Gallery, the Browser, streaming services and the sites you save. On Android it also has a section with your phone's apps (see Android apps).

At the top of the deck you choose Windows or HUD, and you turn Spatial on or off.

With Spatial off, you are in Theater: one big screen in front of you. It is the best mode for movies and reading.

  • Open several windows and switch between them from the window bar: point at the bottom edge to see close, more options, your windows and home.
  • Point all the way up to see the page bar: back, the address and reload.

Turn on Spatial on the deck. Your windows are placed side by side, so you can open several and look from one to the other.

  • Move a window: point at the bar below it, touch and hold the phone, then move.
  • The strip: move the cursor to the very top (or look up) to see the strip with Deck, Center and the settings icon.
  • Window menu: the three dots on the window's bar have options like Zoom and Close. Theater switches between Theater and Spatial, keeping that window in front.

Screen or Space (XREAL One series)

Section titled "Screen or Space (XREAL One series)"

With One, One Pro and 1S glasses, the strip also lets you choose Screen or Space:

Screen Space
What you get The glasses hold one fixed screen, and your windows sit side by side inside it Your windows float freely all around you
Who keeps it still The glasses, like XREAL's own Anchor mode MiruXR, following your head
How many windows As many as fit. When it's full, close one or switch to Space As many as you want
Center Not needed Yes, see Center the view

Space is the default when your glasses can follow your head. In Screen, MiruXR may remind you to turn on Ultrawide in the glasses' own menu for a wider screen. Some phones can't show Ultrawide (for example the Pixel 8); with those, MiruXR doesn't remind you.

The glasses' own Anchor and Follow

Section titled "The glasses' own Anchor and Follow"

XREAL One glasses have their own Anchor and Follow setting, separate from MiruXR.

MiruXR does not change it. You choose it with the button on the glasses. Use Anchor with Screen, and Follow with Space.

If MiruXR can't follow your head (for example Air or XBX glasses on iPhone), Spatial works like Screen: your windows sit side by side on a fixed screen, without Center. On Android, the Air series and XBX get the free Space. See Supported glasses.

The HUD shows small widgets that go with you while you walk or cook: the clock, weather, calendar, a note and more. Each HUD mode is a set of widgets.

  • Enter: swipe up with three fingers on the phone, or choose HUD on the deck.
  • Leave: swipe down with three fingers, or tap the highlighted button at the top.

When you enter the HUD, MiruXR reminds you that the glasses' Follow mode works best there. More in HUD and widgets.

  • A 360 video is not a mode: it surrounds you while it plays and takes you back when you close it. See Watch your videos and photos.
  • In Windows you can choose a background for your windows, or see the room with the XREAL Eye. See Environments.
