Head tracking problems
Sometimes the glasses show the picture but MiruXR can't read their sensors, so it can't follow your head. MiruXR then shows a red notice in the corner that starts with "Glasses without sensors" and tells you what to try.
iPhoneAndroid"Glasses without sensors": try flipping the plug
Section titled ""Glasses without sensors": try flipping the plug"This is the most common case. A plug that doesn't sit perfectly can carry the picture but not the sensors.
- Unplug the glasses from the phone.
- Flip the USB-C plug over and plug it in again, all the way.
- If it keeps happening, try the other end of the cable, or another cable.
After a few seconds the notice shrinks to a small red glasses icon. Tap the icon to open it again, or tap the X to hide it until the next time you connect.
"A VPN or ad blocker is in the way" Android
Section titled ""A VPN or ad blocker is in the way" "On Android, a VPN app or an ad blocker that works as a VPN (for example Tailscale or AdGuard) can stop MiruXR from reaching the glasses over the phone's usual connection. Android does this on purpose: an app inside a VPN can't use other connections.
Since version 2.2.2, MiruXR gets around this by connecting to the glasses directly. The first time, it asks for access to the glasses over USB: allow it, and head tracking works with the VPN on.
If you still see this notice, update MiruXR. You can also exclude MiruXR in that app, or turn the VPN off while you use the glasses. In AdGuard: App management > MiruXR > turn off "Route traffic through AdGuard".
Your phone never connects the sensors Android
Section titled "Your phone never connects the sensors "Some phones, like several Samsung phones on Android 17, show the picture but never set up the connection to the glasses' sensors. Since version 2.2.2, MiruXR connects to them by itself on these phones. If MiruXR asks for access to the glasses over USB, allow it. If nothing follows your head after that, send us a report.
A permission is off
Section titled "A permission is off""Allow access on your phone": MiruXR needs your permission to use the glasses over USB. With XREAL One Series glasses it only asks when it has to connect to the sensors by itself, for example with a VPN on. Check the phone and allow it. If there is nothing on the phone, unplug the glasses and plug them in again. See Connect your glasses.
Local Network is off: MiruXR talks to the glasses through the Local Network permission. If it's off, the picture works but the sensors don't. Turn it on in Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network > MiruXR.
"Using them as a screen"
Section titled ""Using them as a screen""With some glasses, MiruXR tells you it is using them as a screen:
- On iPhone with Air or XBX glasses, there is no head tracking: iOS doesn't let apps read these glasses' sensors. On Android it works. See Supported glasses.
- Glasses MiruXR can't read yet, like some other brands. See the experimental list in Supported glasses.
As a screen you can still use Theater, the HUD, the browser and the Gallery. Spatial works as a fixed screen, and 360 videos don't open.
The view drifts slowly
Section titled "The view drifts slowly"If your windows slowly slide to one side:
- After you connect the glasses, keep your head still for a few seconds. MiruXR learns your glasses' sensors while they are still.
- Tap Center on the strip to bring everything back in front of you (see Center the view).
- In Space, check that the glasses are in Follow mode, not Anchor (see Choose a mode).
Send us a report
Section titled "Send us a report"If none of this helps, tap Send report on the notice in the glasses. MiruXR sends a diagnostic report and shows a short code. Share that code with us on Discord. More in Report a problem.
